Today a woman told me that she had borrowed my second novel, Twenty Questions, from the library. She decided to read it on the recommendation of a friend who said it was a "good, light read." Yikes. Oh, thank you, I said.

i'll say it anyway: people who characterize a book as "a light read" probably read fiction like most people scratch their leg: a bit unconsciously. btw, i recently finished Twenty Questions. i'm at a loss to characterize "The Read" but my experience was moving and the story and its craft was very un-light. i found it solid and compelling and deserving of praise and accolades and cover art that better depicts the dark edges of distrust. anywho, thanks. keep writing.
